Junction 8: Crystal Jade & NTUC Finest

Our default place to go for affordable but good Dim Sum is Crystal Jade. I find the service good and my tea or iced water is regularly topped up.  I really love the porridge, steamed BBQ pau and carrot cake here.  We were at the Bishan Junction 8 branch which I haven’t checked out in quite a while.  In Singapore there is a dizzying array of choice when it comes to Asian food and sometimes we just don’t know what to eat.

Noticed that the supermarket has been upgraded. It’s now NTUC Finest and you can even do your own check out by scanning your items.

Something new at Bread Talk – Danish Bars.  But I wasn’t too tempted.

The Four Leaves Bakery looks revamped too. It’s about time, as Bishan’s Junction 8 has been looking quite tired.

I’ve been to the Crystal Jade in Paragon (not sure how it compares) and thoroughly enjoyed it. I’m not a dim sum expert at all but actually enjoyed the one there more than the version we had at a very famous hotel here (i.e. the one place everyone knows in Singapore).

I couldn’t believe how the jasmine tea kept on coming and coming even after we had finished eating and when a friend joined us afterwards before we moved on they bought him a cup and started serving him tea too. I thought it was incredibly reasonable too.

I really like the quality of the food and it’s good value for money. I think all the Crystal Jades seem pretty good and quite consistent in terms of service.
