Progress As a Writer

I so badly want to improve and make full use of my time. I’m ticking off all the items on my checklist, but I am plagued by doubt. I wonder if there’s a futility to it all? Am I deluding myself?

Blogger and Self help writer, James Clear, in his book Atomic Habits mentions how we all need immediate gratification, but you need to be years into a habit before you see real results.

I’m reading more. Both fiction and non-fiction. My ultimate goal is to improve my writing and be published. I’m sure this is a dream of many bloggers. It’s why we started in the first place. But aren’t we already published Writers, each time we hit that publish button. But who am I kidding. Being self published versus being given a contract by a famous publishing house is a world of difference. Unless of course you’re E L James and went viral with readers.

I’m trying to write from the gut without censoring myself because I want to be more palatable to the reader. Perhaps the reader will accept my flaws and recognise themselves in my struggles. (April 14, 2020)
