It’s ironical that I blog about malls, as I’m quite anti-mall and loathe clothes shopping in Singapore. Shopping for books though is a different matter and one I thoroughly enjoy. Blogging about malls makes the experience different though. I feel like I am reporting on what Singapore is like, so that makes it fun. Especially when I take photos.
West Coast Plaza which is in the west as it’s name suggests was formerly known as Ginza Plaza before it was renovated. I like that it’s rather quiet and has a few cafes with coffee where you can sit for a chat or read.
Entering the Car Park (Parking Garage, Parking Lot). There’s a free air-conditioned shuttle every 15 minutes from the Clementi MRT Station which I have taken. You need to take it as the mall is quite far away from the MRT station.
These pink massage chairs were shaped like butterflies. I shot the photo at the wrong angle.
Because it was the weekend, both the Starbucks and Tullys were packed to the brim.
The first floor was deceptively empty though.
We ended up at MOF (Ministry of Food) which is the Japanese style cafe.
The Strawberry Parfait I was lovely because of the special Japanese jelly at the bottom of the glass.
B had the Matcha Tea, which is a sweet green tea drink.
I am recovering from my recent obsession with matcha. I used to order the green tea latte all the time at starbucks (but they’d make it too sweet sometimes) until my friend gave me a cupful of her own matcha supply for me to make at home (with some boiled milk and adding some sugar/honey). Basically: good choice, B 🙂 But yours also looks equally as delicious. I think the closest thing I have to that is about an hour away 🙁
hm, I guess to clarify: The closest thing I have to an asian/japanese cafe/sundae place is an hour away.
For me everything is as close as just 10 minutes away. I guess that’s the good thing about a small country.
I guess I would have no idea what it’s like for everything to be so far away and to really need a car. Here I can even walk or take a 10 minute bus ride to buy food.
Well, I guess not everything is far away. Just if you are wanting anything specialty, it is usually a bit of a drive. This is the main reason why i am always on your blog reading your food posts since I don’t get much food variety without at least some effort. And I am usually too hungry to make the trip by then. And so I munch on some cereal amidst my depression. 🙂
I think I need to be far away from food…it’s just impossible to diet
Yeah, I gained like 10 lb in a week at singapore. It was gloriously delicious.
And to drive the point home even more, I just asked my friend to go get boba from a place that does it the best and she responded with “it’s too far” haha (half hour drive). Again, this is probably why so many horrible franchises or food places are still around. You and anyone else from singapore (or who has taste buds) would definitely lose weight here.
Oh yeah anything that’s more than half and hour away is far to us. I think it’s less than an hour from the East to West of Singapore.
It’s sad that what I took away from this was “OMG….Quiznos!!!!!!!!”
That’s cool. I LOVE Quiznos! Much tastier than Subway. But I’m sure there are even better sandwich places in the US?
I’m a big D’Angelos fan, but they’re primarily a Northeast chain. The real good sandwich places are the independent ones you find by stumbling across them.
I waiting for a place like that to come to Singapore. Right now there’s only Quiznos, and I love me some sandwiches. The food scene is growing so it might just happen in the next couple of years.
Honestly what we need is an genuine Jewish deli. THAT is where the truly great sandwiches live.
And now I’m craving Rein’s from back home. http://vernon.reinsdeli.com/ordereze/default.aspx
I like any sandwich with melt in it’s name….yummm….cheese!!!
