Decided to post some of my older pictures. As I gazed as these old photos taken at Lower Pierce Reservoir, it dawned on me that I haven’t been to the less urban areas of Singapore for quite a while.
Even if a car just slows down, to avoid running into the monkeys who tend to come very close to cars, the monkeys gather around in anticipation of food. It’s pretty sad to see them in a begging pose. They are not afraid of humans anymore because people have been feeding them. I guess most people can’t help feeling sorry for them when they see these poor creatures with their little babies. What struck me is how human they look.
There are signs about, in the usual Singapore style, as a reminder to not feed the monkeys.
Heavy fines are imposed for flouting any of these rules in this green area.
I just love the greenery and space here. I wouldn’t mind living in Singapore so much if only the weather could be a little cooler. Just drop about ten degrees, to a lovely 22 degrees celsius. That’s not asking for much, is it? Then we could have picnics at our green areas and not be an awful sweaty sticky mess before the picnic even begins. Cooler weather would allow us to tolerate a whole lot more and I think people would become slightly more pleasant. Fashionable youth would be able to indulge in layering their clothes. Actually they do it now and just looking at them makes me feel uncomfortable and hot. But then again most of our youth are skinny with hardly much fat on their bones.
