It was crowded this time as we were there after 1.30pm and not around noon like the last time.

Where I Used My CDC Vouchers #7: My first Visit at Toa Payoh Lorong 1 Block 127 Dough Fritter Stall, 02-05

Extremely rare for me to find green bean ham chin pang (hum chin peng) and the owner here is so nice and friendly. Even after I run out of CDC vouchers, I would definitely revisit. The owner only makes a … Continue reading

Where I Used My CDC Vouchers #6: Teochew Handmade Pau, Toa Payoh, Lorong 1, Block 127 Hawker Centre

Honestly we wanted to try the famous carrot cake here at this Toa Payoh market and food centre on level 2. (The ground level is the wet market so you got to take the lift or climb up to this … Continue reading

Where I Used My CDC Vouchers #5: Seng Kee Mushroom Minced Meat Noodles

Got the bigger portion at S$6 each and have S$44 of vouchers left. (Opted for no liver). Somehow we both felt the broth wasn’t as rich as it used to be when the elderly man was at the helm. But … Continue reading

Favourite Noodles: Kok Kee Wanton Mee

A truly satisfying lunch for S$4.50. Pity you can’t use the CDC Vouchers here, but I think they don’t need the extra business perhaps and that scheme is probably to help hawkers not on our radar yet. This was at … Continue reading

Just One Of My Favourite Places where the Coffee is not Bitter & the Service is Good

Every time I find a cafe I like it tends to close down. It’s mostly because I like places that are relatively empty, at least at off peak hours. The service at the Gastronomia Da Paolo VivoCity Branch is great. … Continue reading

My Mostly Bad Experiences at RK Prata & I Don’t Get Why People Rave About this Place

Usually come if there’s a parking lot right in front of the stall. Just seems convenient. However, service is very inconsistent. Mostly rude, often ignored and you are made to feel invisible, even when the place is relatively empty. There … Continue reading

Tomato Soup at Saybons

Didn’t like coming here as the service is often abrupt (partner would say rude & what can you expect as F&B staff are paid a pittance), but today there was a patient, polite, older person at the cashier. I recall … Continue reading

Old Fashioned Cream Cake

I found out at Fun toast they charge 30 cents for a tiny cup of hot water. Here at Toast Box they charge 40 cents but the mug contains thrice the amount. I wish water was free, and there were … Continue reading

Where I Used My CDC Vouchers #4: Mee Rebus at Dju Dju Nasi Padang

Was debating whether to post this or not as I’m not really a fan of mee rebus and I found this version a tad too starchy and sweet. I added the two kinds of chilli provided but it still wasn’t … Continue reading

Shunfu Hawker Centre: Glad I Went there Recently as it’s closed till 26 May 2022

I didn’t realise it would be closed (28 Feb to 26 May 2022) for repairs and Redecoration (as stated on the government website) and I hope there will be some significant improvement. Glad I had my favourite Char Kway Teow … Continue reading

My Favourite Teh Halia at Tekka: Mubarak Ali Kopitiam

In my subjective opinion the best teh halia (ginger milk tea) in Singapore. I like my tea, sweet, milky, smooth, not tannic and the ginger doesn’t need to be overpowering .

The Day After

You can feel the presence of our first PM, Mr Lee Kuan Yew ( I see him more as Singapore’s founder and leader than Sir Stamford Raffles) everywhere. I saw these flyers when we were at Little India. You can … Continue reading

CNY2015: River Hongbao at Night (17 – 28 February 2015)

About 27 degrees celcious at night and much better to see the decorations all lit up than in the sweltering heat of the day. River Hongbao 2015 is taking place on the floating platform at Marina Bay from 2pm to … Continue reading

Pinwheel of Death

My iMac is frustrating. It’s always showing the pinwheel of death. It slows down and halts projects for me. I tend to then force quit applications and wonder what further damage I am creating. Yes, I am not that tech … Continue reading

JB After the Malaysian Elections: A Sea of Blue

It was interesting to be in JB the day after the Malaysian elections. It was a sea of blue.  The streets were also pretty quiet and the traffic less heavy. Perhaps everyone was expecting it to be rowdy the day … Continue reading

My First Time at the SEA Aquarium (Sentosa)

There are some unusual sea creatures I saw here that I’ve never seen before and for that I guess it was worth the huge ticket price of S$29. The tanks here are pretty massive and more impressive than the previous … Continue reading

CNY2013: I Could Not Take the Scorching Heat at Chinatown

The blinding glare of the sun and the heat combined to give me a splitting headache, but the abundance of light made for great photos. I was wondering how the tourists from cold climates could bear this. I must prefer … Continue reading
